INDIA can export fighter planes, says Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) chief Avinash chander
Prime minister Narendra Modi's keen intrest in increasing arms exports, DRDO said India can export combat aircraft and missiles. The cost would be "much lower" than the weapons produced by some of the countries like china.It would be approximately 1/3rd or 1/4th," he said.
TEJAS is a Lightweight, Multirole, Single-Engine tactical fighter aircraft which has a range of 25 kms while Prahar is a tactical missile system which has a range of 150 kms and BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile system with a strike range of 290 kms. There are various other long range systems like strategic missiles.
Avinash Chander (DRDO) chief said that the country needs a "policy mechanism" for exporting weapon systems to friendly foreign countries in a time-bound manner.
