NEW DELHI: 58 new trains have been introduced as per reports, Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday said. The new trains include 5 AC Express trains, 27 Express trains, 8 passenger trains, 2 Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) services and 5 Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) services besides extension of 11 existing trains. New extended train services have been added in Rail Budget presented by railway minister Sadananda Gowda.

Narendra Modi's Government has Presented the first Railway Budget. Sadananda Gowda, railway minister also put forth the different measures for improving passenger amenities and also proposed the introduction of bullet rails in the country. 

New Services Added:


1. High-Speed trains: Planning to increase the speed to 160-200 km per hour in nine select areas: Delhi-Agra, Delhi- Chandigarh, Nagpur-Bilaspur, Goa-Mumbai, Chennai-Hyderabad, Delhi Kanpur, Delhi- Pathankot, Mysore-Bangalore-Chennai, and Nagpur-Secundrabad.

2. Bullet trains: The Railway Minister proposed to introduce bullet trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

3. Wi-Fi: The Railways will provide Wi-Fi services in A1 and A category stations and in select trains, even Railway stations will also be equipped with wifi.

4. e-ticketing services: Railway e-ticketing services will be improved.

5. Rail Fares: Mr Gowda said the Railways would continue with the Fuel Adjustment Costs formula, under which there will be periodic hike in fares once in six months, if there is a hike in fuel cost.

6. Cleanliness: The minister provided a 40 per cent higher allocation for cleanliness services at 50 major stations. also onboard housekeeping would be extended he said, CCTVs would be installed to monitor the cleanliness.

7. Food: The Railways will introduce meals and food stuff of reputed brands. The minister also said strict action and cancellation of contracts will be made who supply unhygienic food to the passengers.

8. New trains: Railways proposes to introduce 58 new trains including five Jansadharan trains, five premium Trains, six AC express trains, and 27 express trains.
