Maharashtra home minister RR Patil recently said that people posting or endorsing "objectionable content" on social networking websites like Facebook would be arrested under the rules of the cyber laws.
"As a company we are for free expression's and we believe laws that promote free expression are really very important," said Sandberg. She added politicians can use Facebook to bring greater performance in governance and to reach out the people all around. There is a congressman in the United States who has started posting every vote that he does... (we wish) more politicians use Facebook," said Sandberg.
The Facebook (COO) Sheryl Sandberg said Indian prime minister Narendra Modi as a great example of how politicians can use Facebook. "Narendra Modi has over 18 million fan likes on facebook www.facebook.com/narendramodi?ref=ts&fref=ts which makes him the second most popular politician in the world after US president Barack Obama.
