HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is planning to make the installation of roof-top solar panels for the upcoming / newly constructing buildings mandatory in Hyderabad, to provide with better and efficient needs.

In a workshop organised by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the Administrative Staff College of India on "Transforming Indian Cities to Smart Cities", Telangana Minister for Information Technology (IT) and Panchayat Raj, K T Rama Rao said Hyderabad already has such a ideas and directed the GHMC to enforce them strictly.

The Minister said that not many of the people are aware of such a law. "GHMC (The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) should make this law compulsory with lot of force," Expressing views on the workshop, he also added smart city does not mean just technology but smart citizens with smart services.

The main idea of smart city should is to improve quality of life and ensure how technology can be put together for good use, It has several complications such as Traffic Management, Drinking water, sanitation, Health Services they need to understand the perspectives and this isn't aimed for individual, but each and every citizen must put some efforts making this work, Rao added.
