Pipeline Fire: Jagan demands 1 Crore Compensation for the people who lost their lives in a blast in Nagaram, Andhra Pradesh

YSR Congress party president Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy demanded Rs 1 crore to be paid in compensation for each who lost their lives in the deadly fire blast due to gas leakage in Nagaram village, East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan visited the spot where the incident happened due to leakage of gas from a GAIL pipeline yesterday, and consoled the related family members.

Jagan told reporters "YSRCP MP's would submit a memorandum to the ministry seeking adequate compensation to the injured and the farmers whose fields got destroyed in the this mishap,"

"The Central and state governments should put pressure on GAIL, ONGC and the concerned ministry to pay Rs 1 crore compensation for the families who lost a member in the mishap and compensate the injured by providing them employment in government sector," he said.

Seventeen people were killed in the massive blaze which started early morning yesterday, apparently after leaked gas from the pipeline got ignited when a tea vendor lighted up his stove, flames soon scatered houses, coconut palms and everything else in a 1.5 km radius. Jagan said these kind of incident's happen due to the negligence of companies, there were frequent complaints for the past 1 year about the leakages. The complaints were attended half-heartedly and minor faults were fixed in the past as the management was not serious about the Issue. ''There is no compensation to the disruption made and environmental hazards," he said.
                  After examining the eye-witnesses, recording statements of victims' relatives and based on the investigation Police today register a case of negligence against the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi had already announced an relief of Rs 2 lakh from the PM's Relief Fund for the next of the victims who were killed.
